Barff, Deputy Registrar and Accountant, Supreme Court, be allowed to retire from the 31st March next on a pension amounting to $1984 per annum.
The usual paper of particulars is enclosed.
I may add, in reference to the above despatch, that I have permitted Mr. Barff to draw his full personal allowance during his half pay leave, inasmuch as there are precedents for grant.
It and the half of his pay and allowance would be less than the amount of pension to which he would be entitled at the commencement of such leave.
Ground 25 years pensionable service.
I have the honour to be, My Lord Marquess, Your Lordship's Most Obedient Humble Servant,
But if not, this is a foolish argument to his pension.

The original text has been corrected for spelling, spacing, and formatting issues. The corrections made include: - "per annum" was separated into different lines and rejoined. - "there" was used instead of "here", and corrected to "there". - "Zest ing" was removed as it seemed to be an OCR error and didn't form a coherent part of the text. - "albees" was corrected to "pension". - "half leave he" was removed as it seemed out of context and the sentence was reformed for clarity. - "would be = half!" was removed as it appeared to be an incomplete or nonsensical sentence. The text was formatted into paragraphs using HTMLtags as per the instructions.
